The Amphitheatre opened in 1989 and is a beautifully-designed facility that seats 3250 people. It’s home to the musical drama, The Promise, which tells the story of Christ and runs annually on Friday and Saturday evenings from September through October. It’s the largest permanent outdoor stage in Texas and even has a moat in front where Jesus walks on water, as well as a rain screen. The Promise has an award-winning musical score, live animals and cast and crew of approximately 150. The Texas Amphitheatre Becomes overrun with T-Rex, apotosaurs, triceratops, and many others as the live action musical play, LAND OF THE DINOSAURS tm comes to Glen Rose, Texas for an extended summer run.
Land of the Dinosaurs, LLC, the production company for the play, has created a unique theatre experience that includes live actors, an original score and some of the most lifelike animatronic dinosaurs on the planet.
Author, artistic director and LotD president Jay Clayton commented: "Our talented cast of live actors and our animatronic animals interact in a fast paced, family friendly show written to take advantage of the great performance space at the Texas Amphiteatre. With non-stop excitement, great relationships and modern, original songs, there's something for people of all ages at LAND OF THE DINOSAURS."
